Wound care management continues to evolve with ongoing evidence-based research, new technologies and updated standards of care to help guide wound care clinicians in the prevention and treatment of acute, minor wounds to complex, challenging wounds.
To gain a basic understanding of the wound care process, it is essential to learn:
The Wound Care Clinical ESSENTIALS program provides an overview of skin and how it reflects a patient’s overall well-being; conditions and diseases such as moisture, pressure, vascular insufficiencies, and diabetes that negatively impact skin integrity; review of wound assessment including how to identify wound types by location, shape and size, and specific characteristics; understanding clinical signs and symptoms of wound infection; and how various factors can affect the normal path to healing resulting in chronic wounds.
Purpose:
The purpose of this program is to prepare and support the wound care clinician with basic skin and wound care knowledge that will help serve as a guide for the prevention of wounds, reduce the risk of wound infections and complications, and utilize best practices to promote positive outcomes for patients with wounds.
