Cannabis & Wound Healing

By Nancy Morgan RN, BSN, MBA, WOC

Webinar Topic: Cannabis & Wound Healing

CE Credit(s): 1.0

Length: 60 minutes

Webinar Description:

There is ever-increasing interest in the potential benefits of cannabis for wound healing. The C. sativa plant has two main cannabinoids, with different effects, that bind to the receptors of the human endocannabinoid system – including in the skin. Most research into medical cannabis is recent, but initial findings show potential for its use in wound healing. Health care practitioners should keep informed of current knowledge; legal, safety and regulatory concerns; and scientific advances in this field.

Upon completion of this webinar participants will be able to:

  1. Name the 2 main cannabinoids in cannabis.
  2. List 3 ways in which medical cannabis might support wound healing.
  3. List 3 safety concerns to include when educating patients who self-initiate cannabis use for medicinal purposes.
