Webinar Description:         

Advanced foot care clinicians have specific foot and nail care education and training to perform a comprehensive assessment including review of previous health history; identify patients at risk for skin breakdown and wounds, LOPS, and vascular complications; and provide appropriate treatments per scope of practice. Upon completion of an advanced foot and nail care program and hands-on training, an advanced foot care clinician can obtain a certification by passing a written exam. Patients at high risk for lower leg, foot and nail complications should have a yearly comprehensive assessment and more often per direction of physician/provider. Maintaining healthy feet and nails are essential for patient’s independence, social interactions, positive quality of life and prevention of life-threatening lower leg and foot complications.

 

Webinar Learning Objectives:

Various medical conditions affect foot, skin & nail health, including neuropathy.

  1. List three (3) classifications of neuropathy and (2) specific foot complications for each type Basic assessment of feet, skin & nails is essential for maintaining foot health.
  2. List three (3) patient history and risk factors and three (3) physical assessment components to include in a comprehensive assessment
  3. Understand the importance of appropriate fitting footwear and socks to prevent foot and nail complications listing (3) recommendations to assist patients in fitting of shoes and socks
