Skin tears are the most prevalent acute injuries occurring most commonly on extremities of aging skin and the very young. They pose an increased risk for patients with co-morbidities resulting in delayed healing, infections, and other complications. The International Skin Tear Advisory Panel (ISTAP) is a commonly used classification system providing best practice recommendations for management of skin tears.

Webinar Learning Objectives:

1. Describe (4) mechanical forces that cause skin tears, sources for each, who is at (most) risk and risk factors contributing to skin tears.
2. Learn how to evaluate the levels of skin damage using the (3) skin tear classification systems to help determine path forward for healing.
3. Identify topical products and various protection & prevention strategies for treatment of skin tears.
